Sports Awards

The Isle of Man Sports Awards is an inspirational evening where the Islands top athletes and officials gather at the Villa Marina to celebrate the sporting achievements and success stories of the year.

The Isle of Man Sporting Hall of Fame

The Isle of Man Sporting Hall of Fame was originally set up in 2000 to celebrate the achievements of local and Manx-born men and women who have excelled in the higher echelons of their chosen sports. It was officially opened by Trevor Brooking in 2001.

The original list comprised of 54 sportsmen and women dating right back to the end of the 19th century, but primarily more contemporary ones from the latter part of the 20th century. These have been added to over the past 25 years.

The criteria for consideration includes Olympians, Commonwealth Games medalists, National Champions, TT winners and other exceptional individuals who have achieved international standing in their specialist fields.

The framed images adorn the walls of the main atrium in the National Sports Centre, in addition to the downstairs corridors leading to the various areas of the building.

It is intended that the Hall of Fame will inspire the many people of all ages who attend the NSC and encourage some of them to achieve the highest standards in their particular sport, whether it be to represent the Isle of Man at the Commonwealth and Island Games, Great Britain at the Olympic Games or at other major international competitions.
